FAQ
1. What is the WLCCA?
This is a tool for troubleshooting. it is focused on 3 main objectives:
A. Audit the configuration of one or more WLCS against predefined settings. Compare critical settings between controllers
B. Facilitate the navigation of the configuration for analysis and problem finding
C. Provide RF analysis tool from the RF snapshot done when taking the sh run-config

2. How I use it?
You need to capture the output of "sh run-config". The best is doing it from SSH or Telnet, put the command "config paging disable", then "sh run-config".
Save the output to a text file, and open it with the WLCCA

3. Can I check more than one WLC?
yes, in fact, the tool has special checks only applicable when you have multiple controllers on the same config set. it is recommended to load all WLCs from the same mobility group at the same time

4. How can I load multiple WLCs files?
Three ways:
a. Put each WLC sh run-config output in the same file
b. Or, after you have opened one file, click on the "add config file" to open the next
c. Or when using the file open dialog, select multiple files

5. Can I connect to the WLC and monitor X or Y?
No, the tool is designed to be a 100% offline application. it does not connect to the controllers directly

6. Can I open a TAC case about this tool?
No, it is unsupported, non official Cisco product. it is provided "as is", just to share our internal tools, to a broader partner/customer community

7. I found a bug, how can I report it?
Please send the bug report, and sh run file to: wlc-conf-app-dev@cisco.com, thanks!

8. How I request a new feature? I have this cool idea...
Please bring them!. if it is something we can find in the sh run, or extrapolate from the data there, it can be done
Send your ideas to wlc-conf-app-dev@cisco.com, we try to keep adding features to the tool as much as possible

9. I have a question, where do I send it?
if it is general use of the tool, please reach out to wlc-conf-app@cisco.com

10. I have XP, and it fails to install
Please make sure you have .NET 4.0

11. What is "Compensated Power"? (AP Nearby tab, RX Neighborgs, 5th column)
it is the expected power from the AP using its current power levels. Heard Power (Nearby information) is transmitted using the maximum power allowed in the channel. This shows the power as currently configured in the AP. it is important to know, to be able to do calculations how much would one AP affect another

12. What is RF index?
This is a composite metric, to help isolate areas in the network with possible bad RF state
it will use multiple factors, like AP power, distance between them, client count, etc, to compute a value. There is no hard upper limit, and a busy network would never be zero. The idea is to highlight APs with different values
